I carry a Sig P365XL. I've never truly paid attention to the brand of carry ammo except to make sure it's hollow point. I use Sig Sauer branded ammo specific for the P365. Is it just gimmick ammo, or should I check on other brands for the Sig and other 9mm pistols?

Hey mongoose, I highly recommend purchasing carry ammo that meets FBI ballistic testing protocols. Such as Federal HST, Hornady critical duty, Speer gold dot G2. Those 3 loads are the most common duty loads for federal and local law enforcement to include tactical teams. My personal carry ammo is federal 124 gr HST as it provides an excellent balance of velocity (1130 FPS) with adequate penetration depth in ballistics gel. Look up ballistics tests on YouTube from TNoutdoors9, as well as the FBI testing results themselves. No need for +P pressure ammo especially in your smaller frame P365. Sig carry ammo is decent but you’re carrying ammo that you’re depending your life on. FBI current duty ammo is Fed HST, also I chose 124 grain because it is supersonic vs subsonic 147gr.

There’s a company in FL that is making some really good priced hollow points. Probably wouldn’t carry them since it’s a newer company, but I think it’s great for some practice at the range with something that is closer to what we would actually carry. Maybe that doesn’t really make sense lol. But nautilus ammunition is the name. https://nautilusammunition.com/
