I know the site is pretty new, but wanted to ask here anyways. I'm looking at getting my first AR15 soon since I only have pistols. I only know the basics after doing some research like I know I want a 16" barrel and a red dot, like a Eotech or Trijicon MRO. All in I don't really want to spend over a thousand. This is just a rifle for me to learn on and I don't really wanna wait to save up for something over the top. A few told me M&p 15 or a psa which is an even cheaper option. Obviously I don't want total crap but trying to make sure i can get something decent and still have enough for a good site. Any advice appreciated

I've run the piss out of my PSA rifles, seems they've gotten better over the years. Lot's of opinions on them. For what you're looking for, if the budget isn't there for a higher tier gun and you don't want to wait to save, then yeah do it. Always smart to just have some extra parts like an upper/lower parts kit and an extra BCG.

You can easily build a PSA rifle for well under $1k. It'll help leave you room for ammo and useful attachments later as well. Buy a complete lower and upper from them and a decent charging handle and bolt carrier group, and it should be around the $600 mark. This is especially true around sales. You can always upgrade parts later.

PSA is a great option based on what you said. Do that, learn it, then upgrade down the road
